Our Guild Bank

The Horn and Hoof Academy's NEW Guild Bank currently consists of two tabs:
  • Tab 1 is for Materials - a place to put the stuff from which we make other things (leather, cloth, gems, ore, herbs, etc.)
  • Tab 2 is for Equipment - here we'll store unused armor and weapons.
When you are looting corpses, feel free to put into Tab 1 or 2 the items you formerly sold to a vendor for a few copper. This will help the guild to make items needed by players, and to make extra gold for the guild.

A note about Tab 2: I have organized this tab such that the first two columns contain gear for levels 1-10, the second two columns contain gear for levels 11-20, and so on. This organizational approach will make it easier for those who are looking for level-appropriate armor and weapons. Please help me keep it organized in this way.

I would love to add a third tab to the Guild Bank, but the next one will cost us 500 gold. I don't have that much available, so we'll need to hold a bake sale, or something.

Introduction

Looking for a hardcore raiding guild? That's not us. Hoping to spend a lot of time on end game pursuits? You should probably look somewhere else.

Horn and Hoof is a VERY casual guild, whose purpose for existing is two-fold:
  1. Provide a social community that can share goods and experiences
  2. Help new WoW players get started and begin leveling up.
So if this is your first time playing World of Warcraft, the Horn and Hoof Academy will provide you with resources to grow, learn, and experience the wonder of Azeroth. You might make some new friends, too.

Be sure to read more in our sections on what you can expect, and what we expect from you as a member.

We are a Horde guild on the Crushridge US Realm.

Guild Ranks and Promotions

Horn and Hoof Academy has only six ranks, 'cuz we like to keep things simple and easy. They're cleverly named to represent the hierarchy of a college or university, but not that cleverly.

Promotions and demotions are only performed by the faculty (i.e., the Dean or a Professor). The criteria for promotion are pretty fluid, although we generally promote a player from Prospective Student to Freshman when they have increased their character by five levels since joining and have been in the guild for at least two weeks.

Being demoted can occur when a player is deemed to be violating the Code of Conduct.

Dean
This is the Guild Leader. This player has all of the privileges available. There is only one Guild Leader at a time.

Professor
Professors have the same privileges as the Dean, except they cannot dissolve the Guild, and cannot change the settings on the Guild Bank. These are founding members of the guild, and share in its management and upkeep.

Grad Student

Grad Students are trusted members of the guild who have full access to the guild bank, can invite new members, and can listen in on officer chat speak. They can also modify the Message of the Day (MOTD).

Undergraduate
Undergraduates are full members of the guild. In addition to the privileges accorded Freshmen, they have deposit/withdrawal access to some parts of the guild bank and can withdraw gold from the guild bank.

Freshman
Freshman have full access to the Guild Chat channel. They also can use Guild Bank funds for repairs. Freshman can only view the contents of the Guild Bank tabs, and must ask a faculty member (Dean or Professor) about any items in which they are interested. Freshman are allowed to deposit items in the Guild Bank (this definitely improves your rep within the guild!).

Prospective Student

These are new guild members, or members who are on probation. Prospective Students do not have Guild Bank Access, and they can only listen on the Guild Chat channel.

Available privileges are: guild chat listen, guild chat speak, officer chat listen, officer chat speak, promote, demote, invite member, remove member, set MOTD, edit public note, view officer note, edit officer note, and modify guild info.

What We Expect From Members

A guild won't work for its members if they only take and never give. It is better to see the guild as a cooperative, where you contribute some goods and some of your time, and in return you get other player's goods and time.

Here are some examples of give and take within the guild:
  • Player A contributes a 20-stack of medium leather to the Guild Bank.
  • Player B makes a new pair of pants for Player C using the leather.
  • Player C gives Player B a cool bow he looted but can't use.
  • Player C contributes a bunch of Grave Moss she gathered to the Guild Bank.
  • Player A uses the Grave Moss to create a Shadow Protection potion.
Most of this is pretty obvious-- help out your guild and it will help you. Even so, we've identified some guidelines for what we expect from a good citizen in our guild:

What Your Guild Expects From You
  1. Follow the guild Code of Conduct.
  2. Learn at least one gathering profession (mining, skinning, or herbalism).
  3. Contribute some of your gathered resources to the Guild Bank.
  4. Once reaching level 20, repay all gold withdrawn from the guild bank (does not include repairs paid for from the guild bank).

Guild Benefits

Horn and Hoof Academy provides a number of benefits to its members. Many of these benefits depend on your level, your time in the guild, and your rank within the guild.

Benefits to players when they join the guild:
  • 1 Gold mailed to you by guild faculty
  • Assigned guild rank of Prospective Student
  • Other guild players to group with
  • Someone to ask questions of
Benefits to new members who have been in the guild for two weeks and have increased 5 levels since joining:
  • Promotion to guild Rank of Freshman
  • A full set of decent armor appropriate to your class and level
  • Access to Guild Bank for: repair costs, first bank panel

Benefits to established guild members:

Established guild members who show a desire to continue leveling and grouping with members of the guild for questing and instances will be promoted (at the sole discretion of the Dean) to the rank of Undergraduate, and ultimately Grad Student. This provides greater access to the Guild Bank panels as well as access to guild bank gold.

Code of Conduct

Playing WoW should be fun. Rules usually aren't fun, but people who don't follow some rules seem to end up ruining the fun of those who do. Horn and Hoof Academy believes that being good citizens in WoW is important, whether interacting with other guild members, fellow horde, or even members of that other faction.

Don't forget that your behavior reflects not only on yourself, but also on your guild (Our name is right there hovering over your head!).

Here are a few simple rules that we ask you to follow. Repeated violations will likely lead to being removed from the Horn and Hoof Academy.

  1. Try to contribute to the guild bank at least half as often as you take items or gold. Otherwise, the bank will quickly run empty.
  2. Never charge a fellow guild member for making stuff for them (assuming they provide the mats).
  3. Don’t gank opposing faction players. If attacked first, all bets are off…
  4. Don’t camp the corpses of opposing faction players… unless they really have it coming.
  5. Always try to help out a fellow guild member in need.
  6. Play WoW at least once a month.
